Malthouse Vets: Pups at the vet

Our story

We’re proud to be the vets of Minsterley

We don’t just want to take great care of your pets. That’s a given.

We’re privileged to be a part of the Minsterley community, serving our village and pet owners south and west of Shrewsbury, and we want to honour that by being a part of our neighbours’ lives – yes, keeping your pets healthy and happy, but also by being a hub, knowing you and your family by name, having a chat over a brew.

That means if you’re walking by with your dog, there’s always a treat waiting for them if you want to pop in and say hello. The same goes for any other type of pet, but if you’re walking your guinea pig, we may have questions!

Whatever the situation, with our small team you’re always going to be greeted by a familiar face. As an independent practice, you’ll either meet our owner, Dr Natalie Morris-Webb, or you can be sure she’s caring for one of our patients. You might even meet Dr Natalie’s mum, Kath, who is our accountant – a true family business!

We believe in this ethos so deeply that we’ve included unlimited consults in our Malthouse Wellness Plan, enabling you to speak to our team whenever you’re concerned or have a query without that financial barrier.

This is all part of our promise to you.

We will always be here for you and your pet. We will always push ourselves to improve our service and upgrade the care we can provide. And we will never take our position as the vets of Minsterley for granted.

Malthouse Vets: Dr Natalie, client and puppy with brews

“The thing I love more than anything is caring for your pets and the buzz I get when your beloved pets are back to their happy, healthy selves.” – Dr Natalie

I’ve invested everything I have, both emotionally and financially, into the Malthouse, because I feel passionately about creating an independent practice that can provide the level of service I would want for my own pets.

I grew up on a farm near Clun in our beautiful Shropshire. Female vets used to come out to the farm and I knew from a young age I wanted to be like them – strong women who loved animals.

After qualifying from the University of Liverpool I spent some time in Lancashire, but I missed our Shropshire hills, and jumped at the chance to move to the Malthouse, with the plan being to eventually take over as the owner.

Once here, I fell in love, and I can’t imagine leaving, especially since becoming owner in 2017. It’s everything I want – a community practice where we know all of our clients and patients and have time to spend with them.

I don’t just want to know my clients, their pets and their families – I want them to know me too. So here are a few fun facts about me to get us started.

I play the saxophone, I have a borderline obsession with bears and I enjoy craft ale and trail running – although not usually at the same time.

But the thing I love more than anything is caring for your pets and the buzz I get when your beloved pets are back to their happy, healthy selves.

A modern service in a building steeped in history

We’re always striving to invest and improve both the practice and the level of service we can offer you.

This involves investing heavily in equipment, the team, and also renovating our beautiful Grade II listed building to create a really special experience for all our clients. We use PetsApp to give you easy access to updates from our team and the ability to communicate with us at any time of the day.

Dr Natalie didn’t want the Malthouse to have that corporate, clinical feel, so we’ve endeavoured to maintain the special feel of the building while modernising the practice. You can still see the door in the roof through which the sacks of barley that were processed here from the early 1800s would have been winched.

Whether it’s a cat spay or an exploratory laparotomy, we make sure to provide a really high quality service with our bespoke prep and sterile theatre area.

Dr Natalie is an Advanced Practitioner in small animal medicine and we have a top of the line diagnostics range to support her in offering patients the most advanced service.

Registering your pet is free, and if you have any questions we are always happy to chat, whether that’s over the phone, via PetsApp, on social media or in our practice.

Stick your head in and say hello – we’ll pop the kettle on!

We're here for you and your pet
